The short version

Freedom Forever LLC filed a voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition in the District of Delaware on April 15, 2026. The case was converted to Chapter 7 on August 7, 2026. MK3 re-checked the public case summary while preparing this homeowner guide.

1. Bankruptcy does not automatically tell you who owns your solar agreement.

Your solar installation contract, equipment ownership, loan, lease, PPA, servicing agreement, and warranties may involve different companies. If you make payments to a lender or another owner/servicer, do not stop or change payments solely because Freedom Forever entered bankruptcy. Review the agreement and current account instructions.

2. Workmanship coverage and equipment warranties are different.

MK3 does not assume Freedom Forever’s workmanship warranty or other contractual obligations. Panels, inverters, microinverters, optimizers, batteries, or other components may have separate manufacturer warranties, but coverage depends on the manufacturer and written terms. The FTC recommends reviewing who provides the warranty, what is covered, and how claims are handled.

3. Download the information you still have access to.

01
Monitoring screenshots

Save production history, alerts, system identifiers, and visible errors.

02
Original proposal and contract

Keep installer, equipment, financing, warranty, and production documents together.

03
Equipment labels

Photograph inverter, battery and accessible model/serial labels without opening equipment.

04
Interconnection/PTO records

Preserve utility permission-to-operate and permit records if you have them.

4. If the system is not working, diagnose the technical problem separately.

A bankruptcy filing does not reveal whether your current fault is an inverter, communication, wiring, module-level electronics, panel, battery, or another issue. The Department of Energy recommends identifying the component manufacturers and contacting qualified local service providers familiar with the equipment when the original installer is no longer in business.

5. An independent repair company is not the successor to Freedom Forever.

MK3 can independently diagnose and repair qualifying existing systems, but it does not become responsible for Freedom Forever contracts, workmanship warranties, financing, or bankruptcy claims. If you need legal advice about a claim against the bankruptcy estate or contractual rights, consult a qualified attorney.

6. What MK3 can help with

Within the active service area and supported equipment scope, MK3 can diagnose production problems, inverter and equipment faults, compatible monitoring issues, supported battery problems, wiring and panel-related faults, and multi-issue system restoration.
